DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY
Omar is a Mexico-based cinematographer and stills photographer who has also worked in Cuba, Germany and Spain.
His credits include the feature films Beyond What Remains (Mexico), Todos Hemos Pecado (We Have All Sinned, Mexico), Personal Belongings (Cuba), which won the Third Place Opera Prima Coral Award for Best Film at the 2007 International Festival of New Latin American Film in Havana, Cuba, and the documentary The Fallen (Mexico), which screened at the 2008 Ambulante Documentary Film Festival.
His work in television includes the TV movies Premoniciones (Premonitions), City on War, La Ruleta de los Sueños (Roulette of Dreams), Aurora’s Sin, No Mercy, and the TV series Premoniciones (Premonitions), Drenaje Profundo (Deep Drainage, TV Azteca), Ruta México (Mexico Route, Channel 22), and Los Once Más (Eleven More, Channel 11).
Omar has also worked on more than twenty short films and on music
videos for artists that include La Maldita Vecindad, Hunter, and Ana Victoria, among others.
His thesis Gente Que Llora (People Who Cry) won the National TV, Radio and Film of Cuba Premio Caracol Award for Best Cinematography in 2001, and the short film Mesa de Manjares (Table of Delicacies) won for Best Cinematography at the 2009 Philadelphia International Documentary and Fiction Film Festival.
Omar is a graduate of the International School of Film and Television (Escuela Internacional de Cine y Television, EICTV) in San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, with a Specialization in Cinematography, and he holds a Master of Film Studies degree from the Centro de Cultura Casa Lamm in Mexico City.
