PRODUCER
CO-DIRECTOR
LEAD ACTOR
Toronto-based Producer, Co-Director and star of Beyond What Remains, and member of the extended family cast in the box office hit My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and its sequel (2016), Peter studied and honed his craft over many years with the highly regarded, Juilliard-trained Artistic Director of the Professional Actors Lab, David Rotenberg.
With a Bachelor of Arts (Politics) and a Law Degree from Queen’s University, he began his career as a litigation lawyer in Toronto.
But a few years later, in an effort to convince a friend to follow his dream to become an actor, Peter accepted a challenge to attend an acting class with him. His friend didn’t show up.
Instead, Peter discovered his own love for the art and left his lawyer days behind.
Beyond What Remains is his first feature film as a producer, his first as a co-director, and his first as the lead.
CO-DIRECTOR
WRITER (SCREENPLAY BY)
Bassel is a strategy and management consultant, coach and trainer who speaks five languages (English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Czech) and has worked with global companies, government, and non-profits.
He first developed the screenplay for what would become Beyond What Remains in 2006. Informed in part by some experiences from his past, he devoted himself to the project for several years. Among his many essential contributions to the production, he scouted and discovered all the beautiful, remote Mexican locations that are so core to the film.
Over seven intense years spent in study to become an actor, Bassel performed on stage at Toronto’s Summer Works, and directed and co-produced two plays. He holds a Bachelor Degree in International Relations from York University, studied Cinematography and Film Production at Ryerson University, and
completed a Masters Degree in Communication (with Specialization in Film and Theatre), again at York. And he conceived and mounted three original theatre performances with Toronto Youth. BWR is his first feature as a co-director, and first as a screenwriter.
PRODUCER
POST-PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
A Toronto-based producer, director, writer and first assistant director, with additional experience as a post-production supervisor, Glenn produced, directed and wrote the 22-minute film, The Touch, starring Rick Roberts and Joy Tanner, which garnered film festival screenings, critical praise, multiple broadcast sales, and aired nationwide in prime time on the CBC, Canada’s national public broadcaster.
As a first assistant director over many years, he planned and scheduled shoots and managed sets on numerous films, TV movies, TV series and shorts.
Glenn’s creative and organizational guidance on Beyond What Remains has been invaluable.
